The Dress - Part 3
guidelines to follow to get dressed at this point, we must ask , how should dress believers today, and we do not have the same clothes that the old ones?, are there any guidelines in Scripture about how we dress today? The first thing we have to do is remember the origin of clothing in the life of man, which is not other than to cover his nakedness. This is and remains valid for any generation, is the Eden or the present, as God continues to see nudity as something shameful. The Lord Jesus wrote to the church in Laodicea about it and says, "I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich, and be clothed in white raiment, that not the shame your nakedness; and anoint thine eyes with eye drops, so you see "Revelation 3:18, that is, asks him to view not the shame of their nakedness. Also in Revelation 16:15 we read" Behold, I come as thief. Blessed is he who stays awake and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame. "Divine demand that we cover it, so you do not see or discover the parts of our body that are less honest, and even those that are. The Apostle Paul writing to the Corinthians says, "to those members of the body that we think more vicious, to these we bestow more abundant honor, and those who are less honest we have more composure" 1 Corinthians 12:23, indicating that members like the feet and belly considered more vile (lit. less honest), but they are not, we bestow more abundant honor wearing the feet and covering the belly, and less honest members as the genitals are covered with composure by people of any class, even by the wild or uncivilized. In John 21:7 we read: "Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, the Lord is. And Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, girded on clothes because I was naked, and fell to the sea "(RV version 1909), and the question immediately arises is, why Simon Peter was girded (dressed) clothing when he heard that the Lord was against it?. In the first instance we would respond, "because I was naked" (only with underwear), but further analyzing the event, we can see the real reason why Simon Peter put on his clothes, he says the Word of God who made when he "heard it was the Lord" who spoke to them, ie, dressed because he felt the same shame before the Lord because of his composure, Adam felt when he heard the voice of God in the garden with just being Adam an apron, that is, naked. Simon Peter was not completely naked, but had taken off enough clothes to feel embarrassed. Remember that not dressing appropriately, or to be low on clothes is considered nudity. The proper way to wear the down the Holy Spirit inspiring the Apostles Peter and Paul, who wrote about it in a clear and forceful. In 1 Timothy 2:9 the Apostle Paul gives guidelines on how we dress, in particular as they have to do Christian women, "I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and modesty, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes. " See the guidelines given by the Apostle Paul: • "modest apparel" 1 Timothy 2:9 the Greek word for decent DecorosaEl / or is "kosmios" that means strictly ordered, decorous, decent. Christian women should wear decent clothes that do not encourage ostentation, vanity, much less to arouse carnal passions in the opposite sex. Menswear for women is out of order, not eligible to claim a Christian woman. A male garment that a woman should not wear the "pants" because as we have seen before is a male garment, who joined the female costumes fruit of a spirit of rebellion and breaking with the order established by God to dress as the nature of each violation of the identity. For today's society that follows the guidelines dictated by "fashion" This is unprecedented, absurd, abnormal, but do not forget that we are not the world, and that guidelines on how we have to dress the sets God at His word and not the "fashion" or the world. • "modestly and discreetly" 1 Timothy 2:9 PudorEl modesty is Greek for "aidos" which suggests a sense of shame rooted in the character. Aidos always stop a good person to commit an unworthy act. Christian women must dress according to the sense of shame that have been gifted by the Holy Spirit of God, therefore, refrain from wearing clothing that discovered the body parts that are less honest, and even the most honest. Garments such as miniskirts, transparencies and top should not be used by the Christian women. Exaggerated necklines and sleeveless tops should also be avoided. The fitting clothing, which is marked by highlighting its form, is not proper for a woman with a sense of shame, or as the Apostle Paul said to a woman who "professes godliness." Not only in their dress Christian women must show their sense of shame, but also in their behavior and attitude. An example of how not to behave in a Christian woman is found in Isaiah 3:16, where God through the prophet Isaiah reveals the shameless behavior of the daughters of Sion, ◦ cuellierguidas (proudly, haughty) ◦ wanton eyes (lewd) ◦ go dancing (coyly) ◦ doing with their feet (pointing) ModestiaEl modesty is Greek for "sofrosune" denotes straight view of the mind, sanity, self-control. Is that internal control Sofrosune usual self, with its constant restraint of all passions and desires, which would hinder the temptation arising on these, or at least to emerge with such force that overcame the controls and barriers aidos (modesty ) oppose it. Women have always been attracted to the various accessories and ornaments, which are intended to change the appearance, and seduce men. In 2 Kings 9:30, Ezekiel 23:40, and Jeremiah 4:30 mentions a supplement such as antimony, a metal powder that black, worn by Eastern women to paint the eyes so that they appear larger and brighter. Eastern women copied it from the Egyptians, who were pioneers in this painting or makeup, using antimony to paint the eyelids and natural iron oxides to paint the lips. Christian women must withstand the temptation to use accessories and embellishments to change their looks, because beauty is not outside but inside, 1 Peter 3:3,4. His face should be flush of modesty rather than painting. The Apostle Peter harmonizes with the Apostle Paul in his first letter emphasizing the ornament in women should not be outside. Ornaments • "not with braided hair" 1 Timothy 2:9 The Greek word translated as ostentatious is "plegma" which means what is woven. The idea is to hair ornaments. The Greeks were accustomed to look curly or frizzy hair with the addition of ribbons, in some cases gold. Greek hairstyles are some known as the "pearl" that is long hair on the back, divided into sections, and these again divided into segments. Also on the head the hair is arranged in the form of beads and bound by a ribbon. In the Classical and Hellenistic Period, hair in women varies greatly, with frequent combed "lampadión" (torch in Greek). The hair is combed back and wrapped in a band that stand out the points as the flames of a torch. The collection can be worn on the front or back of the head. The melon-shaped hairstyle has great priority and is even worn by queens and empresses of Rome. In it, the hair is divided into various fragments that are combed back turned or tight and there is a braid or a bun. Each generation has its own characteristic marks of worldliness. At present the characteristic marks of worldliness are others, for example, with different colors that tint the hair women, although there are cuts male style hair cuts and style inherited from various artists. The Christian woman's hair should not serve at all to hairstyles look promoters of ostentation, to show different colors, or cuts of all kinds, including many women today are wont to do. Composure hair on women is a hallmark of its identity and should not be altered in any way, and it is a shame, 1 Corinthians 11:6. As punishment for his conduct of the daughters of Zion were shaved, which God made to his shame, Isaiah 3:17,24. • "or gold or pearls" 1 Timothy 2:9 The Greek word translated as gold is "JRUs", which gives the idea of \u200b\u200bgold article ornament. The use of various items of gold ornaments for the body goes back to 3,000 BC during the Babylonian, Assyrian and Sumerian, as evidenced by the Scripture to say that the steward of Abraham gave to Rebecca with ornaments of silver and gold; Genesis 24:53. The use of these ornaments was linked to idolatry by these people, it was for this reason that Jacob back to his father's house stood in Bethel with his family and demanded that they be stripped of idols and ornaments linked to idols, such as earrings, Genesis 35:2-4. But the most passionate in the use of articles of gold and other metals such as ornaments for the body were the Egyptians. The most used items by the Egyptians were the bracelets, necklaces, pectorals and rings. Although the most popular item among the Egyptians was the slope or tendrils, used by both men and women. One of their pharaohs, Akhenaton, was introduced by piercing the ear lobe to show off this ornament. In the exodus from Egypt with the children of Israel, came a multitude of all sorts of people who mixed with the children of Israel, Exodus 12:38 and tripped the children of Israel, Numbers 11:4. These people practiced idolatry and ornaments worn by the Egyptians, as evidenced by the incident on Mount Sinai, Exodus 32:1-4. Later this practice was commonplace among the children of Israel, so that God uttered words of punishment against them, Hosea 2:13. The result of using this type of ornament was so degrading for women of Israel, the Lord said these things take away from them, Isaiah 3:18-21. For some professors of today use gold ornaments or other metal does not represent anything, the use involves no harm, but if not, why the Holy Spirit uttered words of punishment against those who practice such things?. Those who profess godliness we discern when something is not pleasing to the eyes of God, and the external use of ornaments of any kind is not. • "gentle and quiet spirit" 1 Peter 3:4 In 1 Peter 3:4 the Apostle Peter says that to be the adornment of the believer. The ornament should be the person of the heart, an incorruptible ornament that comes from a gentle and quiet spirit. The Greek word for friendly is "praus" meaning humble, meek, gentle. In Matthew 11:29 the Lord Jesus said: "... learn from Me, for I am meek and humble of heart ..." because he, better than anyone adorned his life, taking the form of a servant and subjecting themselves to the Father in everything. In contrast to the pride, the pride and ostentation that promote the exterior trim, believers have to decorate your life with the humility that comes from a renewed heart and leads to meekness and peace. The term peaceful Greek is translated as "esuchios" adjective denoting the tranquility that comes from within, causing no disturbance to others. The believer's identity signal is just the calm that comes from a heart trusted in God, and that does not move before the trial and adversity. Any other adornment than this, does not respond to the commandment of the Holy Spirit who inspired these holy men of God to write on this subject. The dress standard for setting at the Word of God and can not say or argue that God does not look or care about this issue, because God never gives instructions through the Holy Spirit in vain. Follow the instructions in the Word of God on this matter is not optional duty of those who profess piety.
